At Red Bear, our Transition to School Program supports each child’s holistic development, helping them build the confidence, independence and foundational capabilities needed for a successful move into primary school. In line with EYLF 2.0, we understand that transitioning to school is more than ABCs and 123s, it involves nurturing strong dispositions for learning and supporting continuity across home, early learning and school environments.
To strengthen early literacy, we implement PreLit, a research-based program that builds phonological awareness, oral language and a love of stories. Many local primary schools use Multilit, making PreLit an excellent foundation before Kindergarten.
Our Transition to School program is led by Miss Danielle, a university-qualified Early Childhood Teacher, who plans intentional, play-based learning experiences tailored to each child’s strengths, interests and goals.
Throughout the year, children’s learning is documented through photos, observations, individual goals and work samples, reflecting their progress and growth. By supporting each child’s wellbeing, identity, communication and sense of belonging, we ensure they approach school with confidence, enthusiasm and a strong sense of self.
At the end of the year, each child takes home a portfolio, a meaningful keepsake celebrating their achievements and marking the start of their school journey.
